This first movement has two main themes. Slightly pastoral. The first is slightly homophonic while the second is decidedly contrapuntal and is presented in a semi-fugal manner. |

This slightly slower movement features a major theme dominated by the brass and a software second major theme featuring woodwinds and strings. The second theme is presented and developed in a semi-fugal style. |

This an arrangement of the famous Gaelic hymn “Morning has Broken”. The theme is presented in various keys and modes featuring different sections of the orchestra. There is a second original theme included to break up what might otherwise be a monotonous and tedious continual restatement of the main theme. |
