| Holy God, We Praise Your Name -- Score | MP3 | Liturgical | Four-part SATB hymn based on "Holy God, We Praise Thy Name" by Ignaz Franz. I've only included the first verse here, but I think you'll get the idea. If you are interested in having separate parts or additional verses added, please drop me a line.. | |
| Lead, Kindly Light -- Score | MP3 | Liturgical | Original song based on a famous poem by John Henry Cardinal Newman. On
the MP3 the violin plays the vocal part. Click on the Violin PDF file to
get the lyrics and chords. I wrote this song for Brian Carlson, our choir director at Our Lady of the Assumption in Claremont, CA, while he was in the hosptial with a serious illness. We are in the process of compiling a website in his honor here. | |
| Lead, Kindly Light -- Flute | MP3 | Liturgical | Flute part provides descant on the refrain. | |
| Lead, Kindly Light -- Vocal/Violin/Chords | MP3 | Liturgical | The violin plays the vocal part. Could be sung in octaves with male and female voices. The guitar chords assume Capo 1. A version with non-capo guitar chords in B flat is available upon request. Otherwise, a non-capo version in G is available below. | |
| Lead, Kindly Light -- Piano | MP3 | Liturgical | Spells out chords with gentle arpeggios. | |
| Lead, Kindly Light -- Score (in G) | MP3 | Liturgical | Same as above but in the in key of G major. Although the original key of Bb is most appropriate, I've found that many typical church singers have a little trouble with the high notes in the original key. So here it is transposed down a minor third. | |
| Lead, Kindly Light -- Flute (in G) | MP3 | Liturgical | Flute part provides descant on the refrain. | |
| Lead, Kindly Light -- Vocal/Violin/Chords (in G) | MP3 | Liturgical | The violin plays the vocal part. Could be sung in octaves with male and female voices. No capo for the guitar (that's one of the advantages of the key of G). | |
| Lead, Kindly Light -- Piano (in G) | MP3 | Liturgical | Spells out chords with gentle arpeggios. | |
| Lead, Kindly Light -- Score (in A) | MP3 | Liturgical | This song in the key of G tends to go too low for some altos, so I raised it up to the key of A. | |
| Lead, Kindly Light -- Flute (in A) | N/A | Liturgical | Flute part provides descant on the refrain. | |
| Lead, Kindly Light -- Vocal/Violin/Chords (in G) | N/A | Liturgical | The violin plays the vocal part. Could be sung in octaves with male and female voices. No capo for the guitar (that's one of the advantages of the key of A). | |
| Lead, Kindly Light -- Piano (in A) | N/A | Liturgical | See above. | |
| All Glory, Laud and Honor | MP3 | Liturgical | New melody and four-part harmony for traditional lyrics. This is an SATB score with an easy piano part that doubles the bass and alto lines. It is intended to be performed a cappela. Send me an email if you are interested in obtaining parts for this. The MP3 file features flute, violin, bassoon and cello playing the S,A,T, and B parts, respectively. | |
| Gloria Part I | MP3 | Liturgical | Original work using words from first petition of the Gloria.
This SATB score is instrumented in the MP3 file as flute, violin, bassoon and cello.
The original intent of this work was to present each of the five petitions of the Gloria in a separate choral work. I'm not convinced, however, that the music I wrote for the first part is upbeat and triumphant enough for a Gloria. It might be better suited for a Miserere! But the music by itself, apart from words, is pleasant enough. The second part of the Gloria is underway and I'll post an MP3 file of it here soon. |
